Don't Look Now........!!

Can you believe it?  We are heading into fall already!  Where did the summer go?  I think we have been a bit distracted this year and fall is sneaking up on us quickly.  We are slowly transforming into fall décor here at South End Antique Mall.  If you look closely, you will even see a bit of Halloween making its way in.  I love the fall colors and the opportunity to flip around our colors and themes.  Don’t waste time making your way to our antique mall!  The fall décor and Halloween inventory moves out fast! The Aurora Colony Visitors Association will be having another "Autumn Outdoor Antiques & Farmer's Market" on September 26th.  This happens in downtown Aurora.  Don't forget to wander on down to South End Antique Mall and check out or treasures.  We are located just a few blocks south of the downtown core area (heading towards Woodburn).  Our next store wide sale will be in November so watch for the date!

Bring On The Small Stuff

A trip to your local antique mall can be an adventure!  You might be looking for just the right piece of furniture, a special lamp, the perfect china or just about anything from your childhood.  The one thing a trip the mall does NOT have to be is expensive!  There are so many ways to add interest to your home décor with just a few smaller pieces. Those classic old salt and pepper shakers look great on a shelf.  Antique linens on a towel bar, ceramic flower frogs that don’t even need the flowers to look terrific. I could go on and on but you need to make a trip to Aurora and visit South End Antique Mall and check out these treasures for yourself!  We are gearing up for an outdoor sale August 7, 8, and 9th.  We are offering everything inside and outside of the mall at 10% off with many vendors offering even deeper discounts.  Aurora Colony Visitors Association will have an outdoor Farmers Market and Antique Sale on the 8th so you can combine your trip!  Take time to put your shopping shoes on, tuck a mask into your pocket, practice your social distancing and check out all the neat treasures you will find!

It's The Small Things That Count!

With all the uncertainty whirling around these days, it seems to me it is time to start focusing on the “little” things.  Sometimes just a small change in what you normally see can be soothing and give you something else to focus on.  I love the pops of color that vintage treasures can provide to spruce up a small spot! It can be pictures, china, salt and pepper shakers, signs, etc.  Just tuck something old in a small space to give it fresh interest.  Now for some NEWS!  The Aurora Colony Visitors Association will be hosting the “Aurora Outdoor Antiques & Farmers Market” on August 8th.  There will be vendors setting up outside so you can browse through a selection of treasures!  South End Antique Mall will also be hosting an outdoor event August 7th – 9th.  We will be setting up tents in our parking lot and the field beside the store.  We will be spacing things out a little more than usual to help with social distancing.  If you feel like a visit to the country be sure and mark both events on your calendar!

Let's Celebrate!!

Independence Day is just around the corner.  We need to display our beautiful pops of red, white and blue!  Things are a bit different this year, but we can set aside one day to celebrate this great country we live in.  Take time to set out pops of color in your homes and gardens.  The nice thing about your effort is it will give you a color change you can leave in place for a while this summer.South End Antique Mall has some wonderful vintage items to give you all the color you want. Come browse the store and plan your Independence Day décor!

We Are Awake!!

Aurora is finally coming back to life!  South End Antique Mall is back to its regular operating hours.  We have created shopping “arrows” to make sure you can socially distance safely.  Our mall is designed to provide you with a wide open, casual shopping experience so distancing is not difficult.  We spent our time “freshening up” the inside of our mall and our vendors have not been lazy during our quarantine!  Many new items have been brought into the mall so there is much to see. Things in Aurora may not feel “normal” for a while with so many of the summer activities being cancelled for this year.  You can count on the antique dealers to be available for you to stroll through town and just enjoy some good old fashioned antiquing time or lunch with friends!  There are several antique stores open now with the balance scheduled to open on June 6th.  The eating establishments now open are Aurora Colony Pub, Pheasant Run Wine Tasting Room, Scatter Creek Junction, White Rabbit Bakery and Filbert’s Farmhouse Kitchen (do call ahead to check on any changes in hours of operation).  Aurora even has three creative souls who will be opening a new shop on June 6th!   Their store is called “Three Daisies Vintage” and is located next to Aurora Antiques. It is wonderful to see businesses coming back to life, even if some may be on a limited basis. South End Antique Mall will be scheduling special sales as soon as safely possible so keep watching this blog, our Facebook page and our Instagram page for updates!

Welcome Back!!

The day has finally arrived!  We will be opening again on this Sunday, May 17th.   We have worked with some of you by appointment only, but now we actually get to welcome you back without having to have an appointment first!  We have had a busy time while we were closed.  A little paint here and there goes a long way to freshen things up a bit.  We have also worked hard at making sure you can move through our mall as safely as possible and still maintain an appropriate social distance.  Our vendors have been bringing in product while we were closed so there will be some new along with the old.  We have a wonderful selection of bird houses for your spring garden!  Contemporary, hand crafted and just plain cute houses for you to look over.  Come and celebrate with us (sorry, no coffee and cookies yet) as we continue to make our way through this strange new world!
