Happy Hallothanksmas

Get ready, get set and go! The busiest three months of the year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Fondly known as Hallothanksmas! I would rather pay homage to each of them individually. They each are so important to family traditions that I will focus on them one month at a time. The first is Halloween. Spooky monsters, outrageous costumes, and colorful pumpkins. The fun of seeing little ones dressed as their favorite characters showing up at my door! Decorating our homes, inside and out, helps us to fully participate with all the guests coming to our homes. Our vendors do bring in a wide range of decorations to tempt you with. We also have vintage clothing, hats, etc., so you can create your own costume! Stop by and check them out! And So It Begins🍂

 Here we are on the cusp of fall! September 22^nd is the official start of fall. It’s a wonderful season with changing landscape, bright and vibrant colors, gourds, etc. All the stuff you need to bring into your home to celebrate the season! The next few months are a whirlwind of activity as far as your decorating and hosting events goes. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don’t want to push all the holidays at one time, but if you are the type that plans your decor ahead of time, we have you covered! Our vendors have been bringing holiday items into the mall for weeks now. I want to keep it simply Fall for now. We have wonderful color and special fall items in place. Stop by and visit! We love seeing all our friends anytime of the year!

Time For A Sale!!

Ya know, it’s just the beginning of August but, I’m sure noticing the Halloween decorations popping up!  We've had a few already in the mall with more coming in this last weekend.  Don’t wait too long or they will be gone! August 9^th and 10^th are the dates for the last parking lot sale of the year for us.  This is when we fill the field beside the mall as well as parts of the parking lot with more inventory.  The mall is offering 10% off but many of the vendors offer even deeper discounts.  This is also the weekend for “Aurora Colony Days” so you really need to wander into Aurora this weekend! Wander into the mall even after the sale dates as we have been having some beautiful antique furniture coming in the door.  Eastlake style from the Victorian era as well as primitive. Grandma's Treasure Chest

I think I have written about sewing baskets before, but it is time to revisit them! These little boxes and baskets are treasure troves! The seamstress of the family used whatever was handy to stash her sewing gear.  The tin box at the left, is an old Sunshine Biscuit box.  You will find wicker baskets, woven baskets, sewing stands, etc.  They were all lovingly used.  The thing that makes them treasure troves is what was stashed in them.  They weren’t just for buttons and needles; I have found bus tokens, little pieces of gold, tiny toys, garters, foreign coins, small photographs, notes on scraps of paper, and broken jewelry.  Just to name a few!  They contain elegant jeweled buttons as well as that old coat button you are missing. The styles of “intentional” sewing stands have changed throughout the years.  They were little stands with legs and a lid that opened.  It could sit by your chair as you worked!  Watch out for these little treasures as you shop and don’t pass them up!

Visit Us During Our Crazy May Days!

 

This is a crazy busy month!  Mother’s Day is May 11^th this year.  That is this coming Sunday! I hope you are ready for mom or any special woman in your life.  May is our Anniversary Month! Help us celebrate our 20^th Birthday and our very humble beginnings as a pickle factory. This is a big one!  This is the first of our parking lot sales this year.  The entire store, the parking lot and the tents in the field next to the mall are all 10% off with many vendors offering even deeper discounts! The sale is held Memorial Day Weekend; Saturday May 24^th through Monday, May 26^th.  Come help us celebrate!

On top of that, we have two new vendors!   You must visit and check out Dennis, vendor# 8800 located upstairs, on the back right side, and Roger, vendor#6602 located downstairs in a locked case in our back hallway.  Both vendors have a huge assortment of very unusual and classic treasures to offer.

So Much To Do!!

I hope we are finally moving out of the frigid temps!  My Daffodils are in full bloom and the tulips are right behind them.  It’s time to start thinking about your spring décor, and that includes lots of bunnies and eggs! Easter is April 20^th this year so you have lots of time to “fill your baskets”.  We can help you with that.  Our vendors have been bringing in everything to do with Easter.  Right behind Easter is Mother’s Day, Sunday May 11^th.  You have plenty of time to get both things taken care of early! If your mother, or special lady in your life, loves collectibles, we probably have what she needs. BRRRRR!!!!!

It’s dark!  It’s gloomy!  We are in the midst of winter and need a little color in our lives!  It’s so easy to just add a touch of color here or there when you browse an antique mall.  It may be colorful lamps, glassware, or art.  You just need to see that one thing you know will make winter a little easier to live through!  Lately, we have had some really beautiful pieces of needlework coming through the door.  They are usually full of color and will fit in any room.  Kitchenware is also another easy way to get pops of color as well.   If you want to keep up on the events at South End Antique Mall, you can request to be included in our quarterly e-newsletter by emailing us at southendantiquemall@gmail.com.  Make plans to stop by and visit soon!  We have lots of color to share with you!

February is the Month of Love!

 The rush of Christmas is past.  I love having the sparkle and special feelings of Christmas, but am ready to see what the new year brings!  Our first special day of the new year is Valentine’s Day.  The origins of Valentine’s Day are pretty vague, but it seems that it didn’t become a day of romance until the 14^th century.   However it came to be, it’s a day set aside to tell your special person that you love them!  Now, I am a firm believer of doing this every day, but a special day to focus on someone special in your life is so welcome!  Our vendors have been busy bringing in special treats for your special Valentine.  We are having our first store wide sale of the year February 7^th – 9^th.  You will find great discounts all over the mall.
